There is a miracle of life which occurs in the turquoise blue waters that surround a tropical paradise. For there is a migration of the giant sea turtles to the white sandy beaches that surround southern Mexico. Where these gentle giants come from, no one really knows. But they come by the thousands every year to the same beach which began their lives. They lay their eggs, and, after their long journey and this exhausting process, crawl slowly back into the sea.
The natives to these beaches celebrate the event with a fiesta. They prepare wonderful food in abundance and create an atmosphere of revelry and uninhibited fun.
The name, Tortuga Coastal Mexican Cantina, is derived from this simple, noble creature whose life creates so much happiness. The wonderful and unique dishes on the menu capture the essence of the same tropical flavors. Yet the real inspiration comes from people who need very little in the way of an excuse to celebrate life.

Food and Margarita was very good. Good cantina atmosphere. | | junefour | 9/30/2008 12:52:00 PM | We love Tortuga's! They have great service, cleanliness, good and atmosphere. One of our family fave places to eat when we visit Galveston. | | Timothy | 8/15/2008 6:08:00 PM | DIRTY PLACE! I was scared to eat the food wondering how sanitary the dining ware was. Bathrooms were very dirty. Service was below average. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. | | CHRIS MCCLOUR | 7/22/2008 12:45:00 PM | GOOD FOOD , GREAT SERVICE AND PRICES WAS GOOD TOO , NICE PLACE , GREAT ATMOSPHERE | | Jacee | 7/9/2008 7:43:00 PM | We loved Tortuga's! The food was wonderful and quick to the table. We each ordered the big combination platter and we had enough left to take home for supper! So we really got 2 meals for less than $11 each! We look forward to coming back our next vacation. | | Ivy Moore | 6/19/2008 10:03:00 PM | The meal was worse than a Mexican tv frozen dinner. The food was terrible and barely warm when served. I highly recommend you spend your money somewhere else. | | Monique | 6/9/2008 11:52:00 AM | I've eaten at Tortugas twice and had a great experience both times! The food is great, affordable and the service is very quick. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a good lunch or fun dinner with the family! Oh, and if you have room afterwards, try the fried ice cream. It is delicious! | | Theresa | 5/25/2008 2:26:00 PM | Perhaps the others did not order the right menu items. We had delicious chiles stuffed with shrimp. They were so big and delicious, we were blown away. We were in Galveston for a week during Thanksgiving and made a point of going back again before our vacation was over. | | clay | 4/13/2008 7:31:00 PM | Possibly the worst tex-mex/mexican food I've ever eaten. It was a gastronomical disaster. | | Lee Roane | 2/21/2008 2:22:00 PM | Not bad for a chain. The spinach enchilladas are good. |
