| Rating | Rated by | Date | Review | | Jim Scarborough | 11/3/2008 3:20:00 PM | As Texas beaches go it is one of the nicer ones. My first trip there was 1963, no charge. Seems like it went to $1.00 per car load 10 years later or so. Now....never would have guessed it would be $8.00. You should be on the beach during a down pour.. its really cool. | | chipp henry | 9/15/2008 6:55:00 PM | I've lived in galveston texas for the last 4 years, moving from a city to the island, thank you! i read that people were complaining about the weed bushes in the ocean, hello? SEAWEED. Any beach you go to you'll see the "bushes"
instead of tourists coming at any given time do your homework, find out when the weather and ocean conditions are the best...you'll find the love,
Island-love baby! | | Sherry | 8/17/2008 10:47:00 AM | This beach was OK. But it was furry. I didn't know the gulf was full of sea weed bushes. Not sure what they're really called. Seeing the line up of these tiny bushes along the beach line made for a bad first impression. I saw the furry line of bushes while driving down the Seawall, but I was hoping that they wouldn't be at Stewart Beach. I bet they usually clear these bushes out. I didn't see the bushes in any of the pictures that advertise the beach. I probably just picked a bad day to go. | | Kris | 8/11/2008 4:48:00 PM | It was really nice. I rented two chairs and an umbrella for $25.00 and it was well worth it. The beach was clean and the staff were very friendly, I truly enjoyed myself. | | Ricky | 7/29/2008 1:12:00 PM | I have been coming to this beach for more than 6 years every summer, and it's fun but my only problem is there is no place to change so my clothes get wet, go early and save a spot cause it gets full of people, but the 2 hours of driving is worth it. | | Ruby | 7/28/2008 8:28:00 PM | The beach has a great family atmosphere. The showers were fine but there is not a place to change. Basically modesty must be checked in at the door. The playgroud equipment was not useable. I think this place has great potential but Galveston has yet to realize it. We rented an umbrella and two chairs for $25 and parking was $8. Way cheaper than a water park and my two year old didn't know the difference. | | Blake | 7/7/2008 11:20:00 AM | This was our first family trip to Galveston. We went to Stewart beach early in the morning and stayed through lunch (we have a two year old and that was about as much sun as she needed). It was a great family atmosphere. Very clean and the area with rental chairs was freshly tilled so the sand was soft. We chose not to rent chairs and spread a towel in front of that section. Lovely surf and we enjoyed snacking from a picnic basket while we took breaks from the water. There is a parking and beach area, to the east, away from the beach chair rental side that we may try next time and bring our own tent canopy and chairs. Highly recommend Stewart Beach. |
