It keeps improving every year, especially in 2008 with extensive remodeling. The hotel is always very clean, the food is great, the security is very good and the staff is friendly and responsive The price is reasonable and the beach across the street is one of the best. Galveston is a friendly place to visit and this hotel makes it that much more enjoyable. | | Colette | 8/19/2008 12:40:00 AM | Our family vacation in Galveston was a blast. We spent 4 nights and the room was far better than we expected. The staff was friendly. Yes, we would love to stay again.Right across from the beach it doesn't get any better. | | Joanne R | 7/29/2008 11:14:00 AM | The hotel staff was accomodating at check-in and when we asked for an air mattress for a guest who visited. Upon arrival, noticed that room needed to be vacuumed better, a little sandy. No problems in restaurant with service or food. Only major complaint is that room was not cleaned daily, had to ask for clean towels. Initial tolietries were provided in bathroom. We would stay there again. | | Dianna Hale | 7/15/2008 12:32:00 PM | Close to beach, yes. The beach is actually safer, friendlier, and cleaner! No one will take your things off a beach chair, but the hotel staff doesn't even bother to close and lock your room when done cleaning. Restauarant was dirty and understaffed. We could not even get someone to acknowledge us after being seated to get menus for children. Witnessed 2 tables walking out-we did the same. Don't forget your toiletries because the sign in the room is not true, they won't be happy to provide you with anything. The most unaccomodating staff I've ever dealt with. Breeze-ways are filthy! My sister returns to Galveston in 2 weeks and wanted a recommendation - guess what, it is NOT Holiday Inn! | | Charolette Hendricks | 7/15/2008 11:21:00 AM | Guest Services were rude. Staff had difficulty communicating with guests. Requests not met in timely manner. Toiletries not furnished as promised. Not enough towels for all 8 registered guests.(brought our own towels for the beach). Rooms not cleaned between nights routinely. Bedspread had sand imbedded upon arrival. Balconies crowded and noisy due to heating and air conditioning. Overlooked a dirty trash covered roof. Restaurant was understaffed and many guests walked out after lengthy waits for service. | | Jean Dopler | 7/15/2008 9:10:00 AM | It was horrid. Confirmed at check in we had adjoining rooms. We did not. We had 4 adults and 4 children. Not very considerate of our stay. No tolietries. One coffee cup in the room. Phone did not work in one room. Rooms were not cleaned until we called at 4:30pm to have them cleaned. Then both rooms were left unlocked. NO service in restaurant that was dirty. Would not recommend to anyone going to Galveston. I cannot believe San Louis Resort allows this hotel to be a "part" of their environment with the current management. |
