Hurricane Ike Clothing Campaign Now Underway
On September 13th, 2008 Galveston Island was devastated by storm surge as a result of Hurricane Ike. A large majority of the families of Galveston Island lost their possessions, their clothing, and their homes.
Pediatric Dental Care, Texas First Bank and Galveston.Com & Company have joined forces to collect new and gently used clothing for infants, children and young adults/teenagers to help rebuild their lives and their world. We would greatly appreciate any help you can give!

New Book by Galveston Historical Foundation and Arcadia Press Recalls the Worst Storm in U.S. History
Galveston: A City on Stilts, a new book by Galveston Historical Foundation curators Jodi Wright-Gidley and Jennifer Marines, is the story of the city's reconstruction after the Great Storm of September 8, 1900, a hurricane that killed 6,000 people and remains the worst natural disaster in U.S. history. The book contains 200 vintage photographs from the Zeva B. Edworthy collection that document the rebuilding of the port city and life around Galveston in the early 1900s.
